Meet Sam
Originally from Orange County, California, Sam began formally training at the age of 3 with a majority of her training taking place at West Coast School of the Arts to which she studied all major dance styles and competed nationally on their top teams. Alongside her competitive training, she trained classically at Southland Ballet Academy, and was fortunate enough to be apart of Debbie Allen’s, The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker for multiple years. Sam also studied with the Musical Theater and Dance programs at the Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) at Huntington Beach High School which led to the opportunity to travel to the Scotland Fringe Festival with a production of Cabaret. Sam was also fortunate enough to serve as dance captain and backup dancer for 1999: The Legacy of Prince for about 3 years. Presently, she trains at Live Arts Conservatory and was apart of Urban Performing Company for two seasons. She can also be seen backup dancing for local indie artist, Lorena Leigh, in her avant garde music videos and at venues across North America.
Since moving to Texas in 2016, Sam has taught and choreographed at studios including Fuller Rhythm Studio, Studio12, and presently, Dancer Strong Academy. She choreographs numerous routines for all ages of their competitive team and teaches styles including lyrical, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre. Choreographing over 40 musicals in her 9 year career, she has been fortunate enough to work as the resident choreographer for numerous high school theatre programs in the DFW area; Byron Nelson, Keller, Fossil Ridge, McKinney North, Richland (BISD), and Lovejoy. Her works have been presented at awards ceremonies such as Broadway Dallas’ High School Musical Theatre Awards and The Betty Lynn Buckley Awards with two of her works winning the distinct honor of ‘Best Musical' there.
